LD's Guide to Japan

Never seen this guy before. Walking in Nakameguro, Tokyo. Makes me miss LA a little.

Met up with some old friends at Echizenya in Shimbashi last night. What did I ever do in photos before I adopted the Japanese ‘peace sign’ pose?

10.10.10 in Tokyo!!!!

This coming Sunday, on October 10th, 2010, I’ll be opening for my good friend Yuki Kawana on the third show of her Japan Tour at the Heimat Cafe (ハイマットカフェ) in Meguro, Tokyo.  The show will start at 8:00 PM, and directions can be found at the cafe’s website.  I haven’t been there, but it looks like a nice, relaxed place, and according to their website they have a nice selection of beers (including one of my favorites: Delirium Tremens), so I’m looking forward to it!  For any of you who are in Tokyo, I hope to see you there!

Just enough time for a little stroll through Ginza before I head out. Man, I miss living here.

It’s a bit stuffy in here, but all in all it’s not bad. There’s an outlet for me to charge my iPhone. There’s enough room for me to stretch my legs all the way out. There’s even a little tv in here! I’m a bit unnerved by the fact that there’s a pay-per-view porn box attached to the tv, though. These things aren’t exactly soundproof. I hope the dude above me doesn’t decide to indulge…

This will be my room for the night. A bit small, sure, but for $15 a night who am I to complain?

I’ve been to Tokyo so very many times now, but there are still things I’ve never experienced. Tonight is my first ever stay in a ‘capsule hotel.’

Life-Altering Musical Shower of the Day: Burger King Japan is attempting to lure customers with hi-tech “sound spot” booths featuring a novel music delivery system called the “Musical Shower,” which is composed of an iPod/iPhone dock and an umbrella-like speaker (allegedly) capable of transmitting targeted sound to the individual/s in the booth, while remaining virtually inaudible to those outside it.

Apparently this is inside Roppongi’s Rapiros Building in Tokyo.  MUST GO THERE!
