One half of an overheard phone conversation between a young Starbucks barista (in uniform) and who I assume was his agent/manager
  • Barista: I'm just really concerned about what kind of legacy I'm going to be leaving
  • [break]
  • B: Well, those tracks I have laid down are there, and they're not changing or going away, and I'm okay with that because they represent a part of my life; they represent who I was and how I was feeling at that stage in my life, but that's not how I want to be remembered.

  • B: Right, because I'm going to be impacting society, and I want to change the world in a positive way.
  • [break]
  • B: People are going to want to be like me and dress like me and I don't want it to be just because I'm a celebrity. I want it to be because I represent something positive.

  • B: And I'm not talking about some Disneyland, bubble-gum shit...

  • That was the last thing I heard because he walked into the Starbucks on Beverly. I was really impressed, though, by how confident he was. It didn't matter that he was actually IN UNIFORM, on his way to work at Starbucks; he knew that he is GOING to change the world. No matter what.
  • And I kinda hope he does. Because we could all use a positive change.
