hahaha—this (Kurobe) is where I live, y’all. (T_T)
How It’s Done of the Day: While you were busy whining about having to shovel out from under a measly 30 inches, plowing machines were busy erecting 20-meter high “snow corridors” along Japan’s Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

Okay, so I don’t live this far up into the mountains, but still.

Since the weather has gotten warmer, I have been finding myself taking walks at night through my town, either for the heck of it, or because Japan’s legal drinking and driving limit is 0.000, so if I have even one fraction of a beer when I go out I have to walk home. When it’s not raining, though, these walks can be quite peaceful and enjoyable. At the late hours there are hardly any cars on the streets, and if it’s not cloudy you can see an unbelievable amount of stars. The sparsely-lit roads make for an atmosphere that you might find in a zombie movie, but in truth it’s one of the safest places in the world to be out walking by yourself in the middle if the night. You just need to be careful of the giant mosquitos.
Above is a picture of what might be the only phone booth in the whole town, right in front of the public library. I think it’s funny that they keep it lit up all the time because there’s no way that thing gets used more than once a year.
The sun was especially bright this morning as it rose over the snow-covered mountains and rice fields
