Hey everybody! I’m very excited to announce my involvement with the Toyama Charity Show! This year is the 20th anniversary of the Charity Show, and even though I haven’t seen any of the others, I think this is going to be the best one yet. The show will open with a variety show featuring many great talents from around Toyama, but the main attraction of the show is our musical, The Idol of Oz, based on “The Wizard of Oz,” but with a completely original script and a collection of completely original songs. The music and script are brilliant, and I’m so proud to be a part of the show playing none other than Oz himself.
All proceeds from the show are going towards 2 different charities—one local and one global. The first, Toyama Aiikuen, is a local welfare facility for disable children between the ages of two and eighteen who need special care. The second, Room to Read works in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and to ensure girls have the skills and support needed to complete their secondary education. Room to Read has impacted the lives of more than four million children in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zambia and aims to reach ten million children by 2015. We’re hoping to raise enough money to help build a library for children in Cambodia.
