Best decision I ever made.

photo Silver Week
This past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were all national holidays here, resulting in 5 straight days of vacation that the Japanese people refer to as “Silver Week” (Golden Week is in May and that has one more holiday in it).  Monday was “Respect for the Elderly Day,” Wednesday was the Autumnal Exuinox, and by Japanese law, if there’s a non-holiday that falls between two national holidays, that day automatically becomes a holiday, thus the vacation on Tuesday.
So a lot of people went out of town for Silver Week, but I spent much of my vacation looking like this: lying around with kittens.  It was quite relaxing.  And then on Tuesday I went camping (sort of; we had a cabin) for just one night with a few friends.  I don’t have pictures, unfortunately, but if my friends turn up with any, I’ll be sure to post them up here.
The cats’ names, by the way, are Noboru (from the Japanese verb “to climb”) and Dean/Dino (after Dean Martin—he meows a lot).  I appreciate all the suggestions, even though I didn’t use them!

photo Meet my two new furry roommates who moved in last night.  They’re 2-month-old brothers and I was only meant to get one, but the guy who was going to take the other cancelled at the last minute, and I couldn’t bear to separate them, so I took both.
I haven’t picked names for them yet, but I’m open to suggestions?
