Those of you who have been paying attention have probably noticed a sudden surge of internet activity from me in the past few days. This is for a number of reasons, the foremost being that I have a lot of free time these days. Another, related contributor is that I haven’t been able to practice for a couple weeks because I don’t have a keyboard or piano at the moment. That will change, however, by the end of this week, and I’ve got some exciting things planned. First of all, I’m going to, at some point, try to book my first Los Angeles gig (hopefully to be followed by several more). I know that my uncle, who lives in Laguna Beach, is planning on throwing some kind of high society party towards the end of the summer, and he has asked me to be the entertainment.
Anyways, back to my original point: Since I haven’t been practicing, I’ve been spending that time exploring the internet and learning about new things like Twitter and FriendFeed, which I’m totally enthralled with at the moment. I’ve also discovered another neat little site that has me giddy with thoughts of the possibilities it allows: ustream.tv. This site allows anyone to stream LIVE video to the public in a chat room. If you follow that link, you can see I’ve already set up a room for a show called “The Lawrence Denes Music Hour.” Imagine: a live performance that ANYONE can view across the globe, AND they can chat with me during the show, make requests, etc. Needless to say, I’m extremely excited about all of these new things. Clearly, the future of the music world is online, and I’m trying hard to keep up with it.
Like I said, however, I don’t have a keyboard or anything at the moment, so all that will have to wait for at least a week. I just wanted to give y’all a heads up, so keep your eyes out! In the meantime, be sure to check out my newest video of Fiona Apple’s “I Know” (below this entry).
