The Dark Knight: Afterthoughts
I’m not going to say much because unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you have heard a lot about how great the movie is. And it IS great. First of all, I would like to say that if you’re not seeing it in IMAX, you’re not really seeing the full movie as it was meant to be seen. The IMAX experience is unbelievable. If you don’t believe me, head over to firstshowing.net and read their article about The Dark Knight’s IMAX cinematography.
Secondly, everyone’s performance in the film is fantastic, but Heath Ledger shines in the film like Daniel Day-Lewis in, well, any movie he’s ever been in. Whether or not he’s “revolutionized the genre” with his portrayal of the Joker is up for debate, but what he did without a doubt was portray the Joker perfectly. Part of that is the fact that the part was written so damn well. But really, I never could have imagined seeing a character so ridiculous, and sometimes hilarious, be so incredibly frightening. That’s all I’ll say.
Everyone needs to see this movie. Movies like this are the reason I want to make movies.
