Lawrence plays piano

My name is Lawrence, and I play piano. I also write songs and they're o.k. I'm originally from St. Louis, but I now live in Los Angeles, and I'm hoping soon to move (back) to Japan. I'm a fairly busy guy, but if you send me an email, I usually write back.

  1. The Ballad of Roger and Rafa.

After watching what may have been the greatest tennis match any of us will ever see in our lifetimes today between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon, I was inspired to write this little tribute to the fantastic effort made by both competitors.

    Lyrics:
    Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal,
Met at Wimbledon to settle it all,
Both of them champions, Gods of the court,
Wielding their racquets like samurai swords.

    They stand on the grass,
    Prepared to kick ass,
    Roger and Rafa.

    Pulses racing, adrenaline-fueled,
Roger and Rafa begin the great duel,
Emotions are tense as the first serve crashes in,
The battle has started and both are here to win.

    Roger serves with finesse,
    Rafa moves to the net,
    Roger and Rafa.

It’s a clash of the titans, a battle royale,
A fight to the death with a fuzzy yellow ball,
Roger and Rafa, number one and number two,
Pushing themselves to the limit, and through.

Hours later, through bouts with the rain,
Roger and Rafa fight exhaustion and pain,
Still raging onward, neither backing down,
Striking with fierceness, they battle for the crown.

    Playing like they deserve it,
    Neither one breaks a service,
    Roger and Rafa.

All day and all night they battle for the trophy cup,
Both of them weary, neither giving up,
Through scores of broken racquets and curses to the Gods,
Roger and Rafa battle on, and on.
